Okay, so Sparrow Production’s 10-chapter film series, Adams Apples has been over for a couple of months now. Well, I only just finished watching it during the Christmas holidays, when I was ignoring the fact that I had exams to study for in January. Lol but I can say it was so worth it! Shirley Frimpong-Manso is a brilliant director! The production sustains that hooking element in all ten chapters, be it Baaba’s money and love scandal with Eric; Kuukua’s greed, ahem, indecision, concerning the two brothers, Denu and Chidi, and her struggles in working with the former as her boss and ex; Jennifer’s whole wahala in reluctantly becoming a cougar when she falls for Gerald, an exciting guy ten years her junior, and her AIDS scare in the latter chapters. I don’t know how she (Shirley) does it.
Now, I know I’m not the only one who felt adopted into the Adams family as a little sis and doesn’t want the story to end. Luckily for us, it isn’t going to! They spotted Adams Apples as a money-maker and they aren’t gonna let go of it! Yayyyy! Shirley’s confirmed a Season 2’s in the pipelines, with a bombshell launching new storylines. And guess what?! It begins with scenes in Paris where Jennifer and Gerald are having their honeymoon. How hot is that gonna be?! All I ask is notice for when they’re filming in Paris and I’ll show my face since London’s a stone throw away. Hehe. We’ll see..
Anyway, here’s part of the transcript of the interview from which I got the scoop, and the link to said YouTube Interview with Shirley and Ken Attoh:
Q: So how’re you gonna keep it fresh in the second series?
S: Well, we’re meeting the Adams family a year after we left them. And we left them on a very good note. So, yes, there wasn’t much of a cliff-hanger but I guess the interesting this is where can we take the stories of these people who seem to have found happiness at the end of a very long, for want of a better word, turbulent life experience. We are starting the second season on a big bombshell. Okay? Yes. And we are taking…I think the most exciting part for us is the fact that we’re starting, not necessarily from Ghana. We’re starting some of the scenes from Paris with Jennifer and her young husband on honeymoon. And then, of course, we’re catching up with all the other couples. But we come to realise that after marriage, after you’ve said your ‘I dos’, that’s when life really begins, you know, for married couples. And in Episode 1, it was just Baaba and her husband who were married. The other two sisters were not. But they are all married now. So we have a lot of married issues. We’re talking about children; we’re talking about being married to a younger man (in the case of Jennifer Adams) and if indeed … (trails off interrupted)
Q: You’re talking about the family in-laws?
SF: Yeah, we’re talking about family in-laws. We’re talking about business. We’re gonna be focusing a lot on business and how business affects the lives of these people. We’re also talking about the head of the family, which is Mrs. Adams. She’s the only person who is still not married, because in Season 1 we realised that her husband was dead and she had tried to date one or two men. She has a permanent man in her life but she is going to struggle with handing over the…sort of…sharing her responsibility as the head of the house with another man. So we’ve got a lot of that. We’ve got a lot in Season 2. I dare say that Season 2 has a lot more interesting twists and turns as compared to Season 1.
There you have it y’all – from the horse’s own mouth. Oh, and it seems it’ll be on TV this time as they’ll have a larger audience et cetera. Methinks they started considering this when MNET showed it and more people loved it. Plus, with TV they avoid piracy losses.
So, tell me… how did you like Season1? And what do you think about Sparrow’s launching of a second season??? Personally, I do have big hopes for it. I just pray it doesn’t turn out to be some long, boring and dragged out thing we pretend to like! Holla at me and tell me what you think!
